Parsons: 'I still believe' Cowboys can make a run with Rush at QB
The Dallas Cowboys aren't wavering in their confidence despite Cooper Rush filling in at quarterback for the injured Dak Prescott.
Prescott will miss Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles after reportedly suffering a partial avulsion of his right hamstring. However, he's likely to be sidelined for more than four weeks with season-ending surgery also possible.
"I still believe we can make a run," star pass-rusher Micah Parsons said, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "I've seen what Cooper Rush can do."
Parsons added: "That's a good boy right there. Cooper Rush got a lot of talent. He won games for us by just doing the basics, just playing good football. So it's not like he can't do it."
Rush has been in this position before and holds a 5-1 record for the Cowboys. He won his first NFL start in place of an injured Prescott in 2021, and he went 4-1 when called into action again in 2022 because of another injury to Prescott.
Despite his record, Rush said he's trying to take it on a game-by-game basis.
"I mean we're just trying to beat Philly," Rush said. "That's kind of our approach this week. Got to take them one at a time. It's a cliche but it works. And so that's kind of the goal and you're really just taking it practice by practice, game by game and we'll see what happens."
The Cowboys are desperate for a victory to correct a three-game losing streak that has dropped them to 3-5.
