Lamar eager to improve 1-3 record vs. Steelers: 'It's a new year'

Lamar Jackson is determined to get past the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Baltimore Ravens' AFC North rival who've given him problems in the past.

"I don't know what it is, man," Jackson said to reporters Wednesday. "I believe last year we were supposed to have them, but things just didn't go our way. The football gods just wasn't on our side."

The Ravens are 1-3 against the Steelers when Jackson starts and are gearing up to face Pittsburgh on Sunday for the first time this season. Jackson's thrown four touchdowns and seven picks in the rivalry. He's also been sacked 20 times.

The 27-year-old last beat the Steelers in overtime in October 2019.

Jackson is looking to build on another MVP-caliber season. He has 2,669 passing yards for 24 touchdowns with only two interceptions in 10 games. The Ravens' offense is first in the league in points (31.8), rushing yards (182.6), and total yards (449.6) per game.

"It's a whole other year, it's a new year, and I'm looking forward to the game," Jackson said.

The Steelers and the Ravens face off Sunday and meet again Dec. 21.
