Raiders' O'Connell carted off with leg in air cast vs. Bucs
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell was carted off the field during Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third quarter after sustaining a knee injury.
O'Connell's leg was in an air cast as he exited the game. He sustained the injury after being pushed while attempting a pass outside the pocket. The Raiders officially ruled him out minutes later and put Desmond Ridder at QB.
"Doesn't look good," Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said postgame, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
O'Connell completed 11 of 19 pass attempts for 104 yards and no touchdowns with one interception before exiting the matchup versus the Bucs.
The second-year passer didn't begin the 2024 season as QB1 but took over the starting role in October over Gardner Minshew. O'Connell, however, was sidelined for four games due to a thumb injury sustained Oct. 20. Minshew had seemingly cemented himself as Las Vegas' starter for the remainder of the campaign, but a season-ending collarbone injury eventually forced the team to go back to O'Connell for last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
