Steelers' Watt dealing with ankle injury after loss to Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced linebacker T.J. Watt sustained a low ankle injury during Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
Watt - this season's favorite for the Defensive Player of the Year award - went down grabbing his left foot in the fourth quarter after trying to rush the passer.
Watt said he rolled his ankle Sunday but added that the X-rays came back negative, according to Pryor.
The 30-year-old spent time in the medical tent and walked to the locker room minutes later. The Steelers never officially ruled him out, but he didn't return.
Watt amassed seven tackles (one for loss), two quarterback hits, and two sacks against the Eagles before exiting. The former Defensive Player of the Year has been crucial to Pittsburgh's success this season, totaling 11.5 sacks and an NFL-high 19 tackles for loss.
Despite the defeat, the 10-4 Steelers officially clinched a playoff berth Sunday. It's unclear if Watt will be available for Saturday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
