Report: Multiple teams interested in trying to trade for Vikings' O'Connell
Multiple teams are considering trying to trade for Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports.
O'Connell's deal with the Vikings runs through the 2025 season. The Vikings and O'Connell haven't had any contract extension talks, per Glazer.
The 39-year-old has posted a 34-16 record in three seasons as Minnesota's head coach. He joined the Vikings in 2022 after spending two seasons as the Los Angeles Rams' offensive coordinator.
O'Connell has also coached for the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Commanders in various roles.
The Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and New York Jets have vacancies after firing their previous head coaches during the 2024 campaign. The New England Patriots fired head coach Jerod Mayo after the team's Week 18 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Other jobs could become available after the regular season ends Sunday.
The last trade for a head coach had the Denver Broncos acquire Sean Payton and a third-round pick from the Saints in exchange for first- and second-round selections ahead of the 2023 campaign.
