Titans GM: 'We're going to attack' to find franchise quarterback
Tennessee Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker and new general manager Mike Borgonzi are committed to turning around the franchise.
"The quarterback position is arguably the most important position in sports," Borgonzi told reporters Wednesday, including team reporter Jim Wyatt. "We're going to attack finding that guy, whether that is in free agency, the draft, guys currently on the roster."
Brinker added, per Wyatt: "We won't pass on a generational talent with first pick in the NFL draft. ... We're doing our homework on all the prospects, including the QBs."
The Titans earned the top pick in the 2025 draft after a 3-14 season. The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants had the same record, but Tennessee's strength of schedule was weaker.
Borgonzi confirmed he will have full authority over free agency and draft decisions and called it a partnership with Brinker, per Wyatt.
The Titans are committed to building the roster through the draft and supplementing it with free agents, Borgonzi said, according to Wyatt. Brinker said the team will be more selective in free agency, per Wyatt.
Tennessee signed multiple free agents to lucrative deals last offseason, including wide receiver Calvin Ridley, offensive lineman Lloyd Cushenberry, and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, among others.
Borgonzi joined Tennessee after winning three Super Bowls over 16 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He held various titles, including director of football operations (2018-20) and assistant general manager (2021-24).
