GM: Browns not considering trading Garrett for 1st-round picks
Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry isn't entertaining offers for defensive end Myles Garrett this offseason.
Berry said Tuesday at the Senior Bowl that he would decline receiving two first-round picks for Garrett, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. The general manager instead wants to focus on signing Garrett to another contract extension.
"I don't want to go into contract discussions. I wouldn't do that publicly," Berry told Cabot and other reporters. "But I think you can assume that we do anticipate at some point doing a third contract with Myles."
Cleveland picked Garrett first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. He's currently on a five-year, $125-million contract that's set to expire in three seasons. He's the fifth highest-paid defensive end in the league.
The 29-year-old previously said on a Jan. 14 episode of "Hard Knocks" that the Browns are "closer than some may think" to being in contention. The team finished the regular season 3-14 and hold the second overall pick in the 2025 draft.
"My anticipation, expectation is that he'll have a direct ticket from Cleveland to Canton at the end of his years and expect him to be here and retire a Brown," Berry told reporters about his star player's Hall of Fame future during his year-end press conference, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.
Garrett finished the regular season with 17 sacks - the second-most in the NFL - and 47 tackles. He became the youngest player to reach 100 career sacks this season.
