Who are eager bettors backing for Super Bowl LIX?
We're still well over a week away from the Super Bowl rematch between the Chiefs and Eagles, but eager bettors are already getting in on the action.
The Eagles are getting love from those who have already placed a wager on the Big Game's spread. Philadelphia has amassed 54.7% of the bets and 59.6% of the handle (money wagered) as 1.5-point underdogs to Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs on theScore Bet/ESPN Bet.
However, the Chiefs are getting backed on the moneyline, with 64.1% of the handle on Kansas City to win its third straight Super Bowl.
The difference between the spread and moneyline makes sense. People who think the Eagles will win are taking them against the spread, with the 1.5 points acting as a small piece of insurance. Those who believe the Chiefs will win are paying a bit extra to take them straight up instead of needing them to cover the 1.5 points.
The game's total is 49.5 - unchanged since it opened - with the over attracting 89.5% of the bets and 84.3% of the handle. Those are significant numbers, yet the total remains steady at 49.5, which is something to monitor as the game approaches.
In the props markets, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are popular options. Hurts has received 23.6% of the handle, while Barkley has received 22.5% of the handle for all bets placed on a player to score a touchdown.
Barkley is also the most-backed player to win Super Bowl MVP. He's collected 28.9% of the bets and 38.5% of the handle on the MVP market, and he's amassed nearly three times as many wagers as the next player, Mahomes. The Eagles' running back is the second favorite on the oddsboard at +275. Mahomes is the +105 favorite.
Hurts is third in both bets and handle, while also being the third favorite to win MVP at +360.
The over on Dallas Goedart's receiving prop, 49.5, has collected the most handle of any player prop. The Eagles' tight end has been a huge factor in their playoff run, tallying 47, 56, and 85 yards on the way to the Super Bowl.
The under on Xavier Worthy's reception line, 5.5, is the player prop with the second-highest handle. Worthy caught six or more passes in four of his past five games. The under's odds are -140 (58.3% implied probability).
