Texans hire Rams' Caley as OC
The Houston Texans hired Los Angeles Rams tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Nick Caley as their new offensive coordinator, the team announced Monday.
Caley was with the Rams for the last two seasons and was promoted to passing game coordinator in 2024. He spent the previous eight years as an offensive coach with the New England Patriots.
The 42-year-old helped the Rams' offense rank seventh in passing success rate and ninth in yards through the air in 2024.
Houston fired offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik in January after two seasons under head coach DeMeco Ryans. Following a successful 2023 with then-rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, Houston's offense faltered. The Texans ranked 22nd in yards per game and 30th in offensive success rate in 2024.
Caley will be tasked with getting Stroud back on track after he finished 25th among 32 qualified quarterbacks in EPA/play. The 23-year-old went 10-7 in 17 starts this campaign, throwing for 3,727 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
