Report: Rams meeting with Stafford amid Giants, Raiders interest
The Los Angeles Rams will meet with quarterback Mathew Stafford at their facility on Friday to discuss his future, sources told Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
The Rams allowed Stafford to speak with other teams to determine his trade market and contract value, and he has reportedly drawn interest from the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams have discussed a two-year contract for the veteran quarterback that includes $90 million to $100 million guaranteed, Russini adds. The Giants and Raiders each have top-six picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Rams and the veteran quarterback are both still open to a return, according to The Athletic. Meanwhile, the Giants reportedly met with Stafford's agent Tuesday, and Raiders minority owner Tom Brady had an unplanned discussion with Stafford in Montana, though the topics of the conversation aren't known.
A decision about Stafford's future in Los Angeles is expected soon.
Rams head coach Sean McVay has said he hopes to retain Stafford but acknowledged the complications of the situation.
The 37-year-old wants to rework his current contract, which runs through 2026 and contains just $4 million in guaranteed money for the next two seasons, per Over The Cap.
Stafford joined the Rams after a 2021 trade from the Detroit Lions. He had a 65.8% completion rate in 2024 while throwing for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He won Super Bowl LVI in his first season in Los Angeles.
