Report: Bears acquire Jackson from Rams to bolster OL
The Los Angeles Rams are trading guard Jonah Jackson to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports.
The deal won't be made official until the new league year starts March 12. The Rams granted Jackson permission to seek a trade Feb. 26.
The Bears are taking on all of Jackson's $17.5-million contract, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jackson will reunite with Bears head coach Ben Johnson after playing his first four seasons under Johnson in Detroit.
Jackson will help bolster the Bears' offensive line. Chicago led the league in sacks in 2024 with 68. The team has over $79 million in cap space for 2025, according to Over the Cap.
Jackson, 28, signed a three-year, $51-million contract in 2024. He played two games before being placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. The Rams subsequently benched him after he returned for one game in November, and he only made one other start.
The offensive lineman previously made 57 starts for the Lions, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2021. The Bears finished the 2024 campaign 5-12 and hold the 10th overall pick in the 2025 draft.
