Report: Cowboys agree to 1-year, $3M contract with Javonte Williams
The Dallas Cowboys are signing running back Javonte Williams to a one-year, $3-million contract, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Williams spent the first four seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos. He led the Broncos with 513 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground in 2024, though he totaled a career-low 30.2 yards per game while averaging 3.7 yards per attempt.
The Cowboys are unlikely to bring back Rico Dowdle after signing Williams, according to David Moore of The Dallas Morning News, who adds that the team is committed to adding another running back in this year's draft.
Dowdle is currently a free agent after leading the Cowboys in rushing in 2024 with 1,079 yards - nearly 800 yards clear of second-ranked Ezekiel Elliott.
Williams' career-best 903-yard season came as a rookie in 2021. He tore his ACL in the following campaign's opening contest.
The Cowboys also roster Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis at running back.
Meanwhile, Denver has running backs Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie, and Audric Estime under contract following Williams' departure.
