Parsons claps back at Lawrence for Super Bowl jab
Veteran defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence didn't hold back when addressing why he left the Dallas Cowboys to join the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, and his comments drew the attention of a former teammate.
"Change of scenery is always good," Lawrence said about moving to Seattle on Thursday in a YouTube interview with reporter Brian Nemhauser. "Dallas is my home, I made it my home. My family lives there, and I'm forever going to be there. But I know for sure I'm not going to win the Super Bowl there."
Dallas star pass-rusher Micah Parsons reacted to Lawrence's comments on social media.
"This what rejection and envy look like! This some clown shit!" Parsons posted on X.
Lawrence then replied to Parsons' post.
"Calling me a clown won't change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn't have left," Lawrence said.
The Cowboys drafted Lawrence in the second round in 2014, and he recorded 61.5 sacks across 141 games in 11 seasons with the team. The 32-year-old became a free agent this offseason and signed a three-year, $42-million contract with the Seahawks on Wednesday.
Lawrence has earned four Pro Bowl berths in his career, but an injury limited him to only four games in 2024.
"Being able to experience that last year and go through the season of recovery, I definitely feel like it was good for me," the veteran pass-rusher said. "It helped me re-evaluate my body and gave me another opportunity to get back on the field this year."
Lawrence added: "I still have a lot left in the tank."
The Cowboys have had regular-season success in recent years, posting three 12-win campaigns from 2021-23. However, Dallas hasn't advanced past the divisional round since its Super Bowl run during the 1995 season. The club has been one-and-done in the playoffs in eight of its last 11 postseason appearances.
Dallas hired Brian Schottenheimer to replace Mike McCarthy as head coach in 2025 after posting a 7-10 record last year.
Schottenheimer's outfit hasn't made any splashes in free agency so far but added four former first-round picks in defensive linemen Payton Turner and Solomon Thomas, linebacker Kenneth Murray, and cornerback Kaiir Elam.
