Texans' Higgins signs 1st-ever fully guaranteed rookie deal for 2nd-rounder
The Houston Texans are signing wide receiver Jayden Higgins to the first fully guaranteed rookie contract for a second-round pick in NFL history, Higgins' agent told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Higgins was drafted No. 34 overall out of Iowa State. Last year's 34th pick, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey, had 91.9% of his deal guaranteed, per Pelissero.
Higgins was Houston's top selection after the team traded out of the first round. He'll earn approximately $11.7 million over the four-year pact.
The former Cyclone tallied 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024 after posting 983 yards and six scores in 2023. He's expected to compete for the No. 2 receiver role behind Nico Collins this season.
The Texans also roster wide receivers Tank Dell and Christian Kirk, as well as Higgins' former Iowa State teammate and fellow 2025 draft pick Jaylin Noel. Dell is expected to miss the majority of the season after sustaining a significant knee injury in Week 16 of the 2024 campaign.
