49ers signing Purdy to 5-year, $265M extension
The San Francisco 49ers are signing quarterback Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265-million extension that includes $181 million in guarantees, Purdy's agent told NFL Network's Insiders, including Tom Pelissero.
Purdy's $53-million average annual salary is tied with the Detroit Lions' Jared Goff for seventh among quarterbacks, according to Over the Cap.
The 25-year-old's signing bonus was just $77,012 as "Mr. Irrelevant" in the 2022 draft, per Pelissero.
Purdy's posted a 23-13 record as the 49ers' starting signal-caller. He's also 4-2 as a starter in the playoffs. The Iowa State product quarterbacked San Francisco to Super Bowl LVIII where it fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime to end the 2023 campaign.
The 49ers handled their quarterback's deal ahead of OTAs. San Francisco has dealt with contract holdouts for defensive end Nick Bosa, wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, and left tackle Trent Williams in recent years. Samuel was traded to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick this offseason.
Purdy has thrown for 9,518 yards, 64 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions in 40 career games. He made the Pro Bowl in 2023 after leading the league in touchdown pass percentage (7%), yards per attempt (9.6), yards per completion (13.9), and passer rating (113).
