Dallas Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons acknowleged he's disheartened by his contract talks with the franchise as he seeks an extension.

"Honestly, yeah, when you go around the league and you see these other teams taking care of their best guys," Parsons said at training camp Tuesday when asked if he's discouraged, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. "I see T.J. (Watt) got taken care of, Maxx (Crosby) got taken care of, Myles (Garrett) got taken care of. ...

"You see a lot of people in our league got taken care of. You wish you had something like that same type of energy."

Parsons is entering the final season of his rookie contract. The 26-year-old hasn't held out from team activities despite the lack of progress on a deal, showing up to mandatory minicamp and training camp.

Meanwhile, he's watched other star edge rushers get paid. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed Watt to a record-breaking three-year, $123-million deal earlier in July. Watt's deal topped the Cleveland Browns' extension with Garrett, which holds an average annual value of $40 million.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones caused a stir Monday by inaccurately citing Parsons' injury history when asked about negotiations with the pass-rusher. Parsons noted Tuesday that "there's really not much movement" in talks.

"I want to be here," Parsons said. "At the end of the day, they sign the checks. Let's see if they want me to be here. ... I'm doing this for myself and my teammates. This isn't for Jerry."

Parsons has been one of the NFL's top edge rushers since coming into the league in 2021. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons and totaled 52.5 sacks.
