Report: Eagles acquiring Metchie from Texans
The Houston Texans are trading wide receiver John Metchie to the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Texans will get a fifth-round pick and tight end Harrison Bryant in exchange for Metchie and a sixth-round selection, Schefter adds.
Time is a flat circle: The #Eagles and #Texans each reacquired their own 2026 draft picks, exchanged in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade, as part of today’s deal that sends WR John Metchie III to Philadelphia and TE Harrison Bryant to Houston. pic.twitter.com/w6nyPR8W9D

Metchie was part of a crowded Texans receiving corps that also included Nico Collins, Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel, Justin Watson, Xavier Hutchinson, and the injured Tank Dell.
The second-round pick in 2022 missed his rookie campaign after being diagnosed with leukemia. He returned to play 16 games in 2023, totalling 16 catches for 158 yards. His role grew slightly last season as he produced 254 yards and a touchdown on 24 grabs.
Metchie joins a loaded Eagles receiving room headlined by A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson.
