Commanders, McLaurin agree to 3-year extension worth up to $96M
The Washington Commanders and wide receiver Terry McLaurin agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $96 million, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.
The extension keeps McLaurin under contract through the 2028 season. It includes a $30-million signing bonus, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The deal ends a contract dispute during which McLaurin reportedly requested a trade at one point.
McLaurin had one season left on the three-year, $68.2-million contract he signed in 2022. That deal came with a bargain $23.2-million average annual salary, which ranked 17th among NFL wide receivers.
His new extension averages $32 million per season, which is tied for sixth among receivers, per Spotrac.
McLaurin missed the start of training camp in July and was placed on the physically unable to perform list upon arriving. He was activated off the PUP list earlier in August.
A two-time Pro Bowler, McLaurin has been one of the most dependable receivers in the NFL since entering the league as a third-round pick in 2019. He has recorded at least 900 yards in each of his six seasons and surpassed 1,000 yards on five occasions.
