Report: Titans' Spears to miss at least 4 games due to ankle injury
The Tennessee Titans are placing running back Tyjae Spears on injured reserve, which will sideline him for at least the first four games of the 2025 regular season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Spears sustained a high ankle sprain this preseason.
The 24-year-old was expected to be Tennessee's No. 2 running back behind Tony Pollard in 2025. Spears missed five games due to injury last year and finished the season with 312 rushing yards (3.7 per carry) and four touchdown runs. He also caught 30 passes for 224 yards and one TD.
Spears posted 838 scrimmage yards as a third-round rookie in 2023.
With Spears sidelined for at least a month, the Titans will presumably pursue more depth at running back. Tennessee also rosters sixth-round rookie tailback Kalel Mullings and Julius Chestnut, among others.
