Report: Bucs' Godwin, Wirfs expected to play vs. Eagles
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin and offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs are expected to make their season debuts Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield, who was listed as questionable with a biceps injury, is also reportedly slated to suit up.
Godwin hasn't played since suffering a serious ankle injury in October 2024 that required surgery. Meanwhile, Wirfs had arthroscopic knee surgery in July after aggravating an injury he dealt with last season.
The veteran receiver's return comes at an optimal time as the Buccaneers will be without top wideout Mike Evans due to a hamstring injury.
Godwin finished last season with 576 yards and five touchdowns through seven games. He previously eclipsed 1,000 yards in four of five seasons from 2019-23.
Wirfs should provide an instant boost to the Bucs' offensive line. He's made the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons and was a first-team All-Pro at left tackle last year.
Tampa Bay and Philadelphia both enter Sunday with 3-0 records.
