New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson is expected to be a trade candidate before the Nov. 4 deadline, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

The Giants benched Wilson earlier this week in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart. After the decision, Wilson said he was focused on helping Dart and wanted to remain in New York. But he added he's "not done" yet.

Any team that acquires Wilson via trade would take on $2 million in base salary, according to Rapoport and Garafolo. The Giants also have Jameis Winston as veteran insurance if Wilson is moved. Winston is currently serving as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart.

Wilson, a former Super Bowl champion, played brilliantly in a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 450 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. However, that's been the 36-year-old's lone bright spot this season, combining for 328 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions in his other two starts.

The 10-time Pro Bowler is on his fourth team in five years. Wilson spent the last campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting 6-1 before dropping his final five starts, including a wild-card loss.
