San Francisco 49ers defensive end Mykel Williams is feared to have suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's 34-24 win over the New York Giants, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced.

"We're worried it's ACL," Shanahan said postgame, adding that the team will have confirmation Monday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

The injury occurred at MetLife Stadium, where the playing surface has drawn criticism from several players due to other major injuries that have happened in the Giants and New York Jets' home stadium.

San Francisco drafted Williams 11th overall in April. The 21-year-old has registered only one sack as a rookie, but he's been a solid run defender for the 49ers, who have major concerns on defense.

Former Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa sustained a torn ACL in September and is also done for the year. Pass-rusher Bryce Huff has been sidelined for multiple games with a hamstring injury, but he's expected to return in November. Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos is a candidate to land on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue.

The Niners, who improved to 6-3 with the victory, have been linked to other pass-rushers ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
