The NFL has suspended Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne one game without pay for punching Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on Sunday, the league announced Monday.

Payne was ejected in the second quarter of Washington's 44-22 loss.

Payne appealed the suspension Monday, but the league upheld the one-game ban. He will miss Washington's Week 11 matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Madrid, Spain.

The Commanders are in the midst of a disappointing 3-7 campaign while Payne has recorded one sack in 10 games.
