Report: Jets trade Johnson to Titans for Sweat
The New York Jets traded pass-rusher Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans for defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The NFL can't process the trade until the start of the new league year in March. However, Johnson said his goodbyes to the Jets' fandom on X.

Johnson will reunite in Tennessee with head coach Robert Saleh, who drafted him in the first round in 2022 while leading the Jets. Johnson earned his lone Pro Bowl nod under Saleh, recording 7.5 sacks in 2023. However, he's struggled to replicate that success since, tearing his Achilles just two games into the 2024 campaign and then registering only three sacks across 14 contests last season.
The Titans drafted Sweat in the second round in 2024. The 366-pound nose tackle has started 28 of his 29 appearances since entering the league.
Trading Johnson increases the possibility that the Jets will select a pass-rusher with the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. New York also holds the 16th overall pick in the first round.
The Jets' defense under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn allowed 29.6 points per game in 2025, second-worst in the NFL. The unit also struggled to get after the quarterback, ranking 31st in the league with 26 sacks. Will McDonald, who had eight sacks, was the only player to record more than four sacks.
