Report: Browns acquire Howard from Texans, give OT 3-year, $63M deal
The Houston Texans are trading offensive tackle Tytus Howard to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Upon completion of the trade, the Browns will reward Howard with a three-year, $63-million extension, his agent told Schefter.
Cleveland is giving its offensive line a major makeover for 2026. Three-time Pro Bowler and pending free agent Wyatt Teller already stated he won't be back. Left tackle Cam Robinson, left guard Joel Bitonio, center Ethan Pocic, right guard Teller, and right tackle Jack Conklin are all scheduled to enter free agency, per Over the Cap. That group started 63 games for the Browns last season.
The only significant 2025 starting piece slated to return is Dawand Jones, whose season ended after three games due to a knee injury.
Cleveland surrendered 51 sacks last season, seventh most in the NFL.
Howard, a seven-year veteran, had spent his entire career in Houston and started all 93 of his games played. He'll turn 30 in May.
