The Los Angeles Rams have made significant progress on a contract extension with cornerback Trent McDuffie, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

There's optimism that a contract will be finalized in the near future, Garafolo and Rapoport add. McDuffie's deal is expected to be worth more than $30 million per season and will make him the NFL's highest-paid cornerback.

The Rams acquired McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week in exchange for the 29th overall pick, their fifth- and sixth-round selections in 2026, and a third-round pick in 2027.

A first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, McDuffie has developed into an All-Pro cornerback over his four seasons in the league. He's recorded three interceptions and eight forced fumbles since 2022.
