Report: Raiders transform LB group with Dean, Walker signings
The Las Vegas Raiders gave their linebacker position a very expensive makeover Monday.
The Raiders agreed to sign former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean to a three-year, $36-million contract with $20 million guaranteed, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.
They followed that up by agreeing to add ex-Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker on a three-year, $40.5-million deal with $28 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Pass-rusher Malcolm Koonce is also returning on a one-year, $11-million deal, a source told NFL insider Josina Anderson.
Dean and Walker both played together at Georgia and entered the 2022 NFL Draft as highly regarded linebacker prospects. Walker was taken in the first round while Dean fell to the third round.
Dean has dealt with durability concerns in his four seasons with the Eagles, playing only 47 of a possible 68 games. However, he's been a difference-maker when healthy and had a career-high 128 tackles in 2024. He's also notched seven sacks across the last two seasons.
Walker recorded over 100 tackles in each of his four seasons with the Packers. He also contributed nine sacks and three forced fumbles, though all three came in his rookie year.
The Raiders have been active on the first day of the NFL's negotiating period. In addition to Dean, Walker, and Koonce, the franchise also signed center Tyler Linderbaum to three-year, $81-million pact and pass-rusher Kwity Paye to a three-year, $48-million deal. Cornerback Eric Stokes and receiver Jalen Nailor also inked three-year deals.
Las Vegas is aiming to retool its roster after landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 draft. The franchise also owns another first-round pick from trading star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens.
