The Minnesota Vikings are expected to pursue quarterback Kyler Murray this offseason, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.

Murray officially became a free agent Wednesday after being released by the Arizona Cardinals following seven seasons. The Vikings are reportedly the favorites to land the 2019 No. 1 pick.

Murray is likely to ink a one-year minimum deal in 2026, as the Cardinals still owe him $36.8 million in guarantees next season, according to Pelissero.

Murray had successful moments with the Cardinals but didn't take the team to the next level, appearing in only one playoff game with the club. The two-time Pro Bowler has also struggled with injuries in recent years, playing only one full season since 2021.

The 28-year-old averaged 3,998 yards and 24 passing touchdowns against 12 interceptions per 17 games in Arizona. He averaged 624 yards and six TDs on the ground as well.

In Minnesota, Murray would presumably compete for the starting job with 2024 top-10 pick J.J. McCarthy.
