Wentz returning to Vikings
Veteran quarterback Carson Wentz has agreed to return to the Minnesota Vikings in 2026, the team announced Thursday.
He'll sign a new one-year contract, reports NFL Network's "The Insiders."
Wentz started five games for the Vikings in 2025 while replacing an injured J.J. McCarthy. He completed 65.1% of his passes for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns against five interceptions, helping Minnesota win two games.
The 33-year-old's campaign ended in October due to a shoulder injury. Wentz is entering his 11th NFL season.
Minnesota's quarterback room now features Kyler Murray, McCarthy, Max Brosmer, and Wentz. Kevin O'Connell's outfit started four quarterbacks in 2023 and three in '25.
Murray is presumably the favorite to start for the Vikings in 2026. He recently signed a one-year deal with the team following seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.
