The Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders is expected to continue into training camp.

"I'm not going to name a No. 1," head coach Todd Monken said Tuesday, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. "I shouldn't say that. Chances are I will not. Now, once we get to the fall, we'll have to dissect the reps how we see fit. I just don't see it after the way Shedeur's played and the way Deshaun's played. They both played well enough to earn out the right to compete to start."

The first-year head coach had previously said he'd like to enter training camp with a defined depth chart. He also said last week that he believes the Browns have "two starting-level quarterbacks" on the roster, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

Sanders and Watson have split first-team practice reps during OTAs. Sanders received all the starting reps Tuesday, while Watson will get to work with the top unit Wednesday before the two split reps Thursday.

It'll be the second consecutive year the Browns enter training camp with questions about who will start at quarterback in Week 1. Joe Flacco began the 2025 season atop Cleveland's QB depth chart with Watson sidelined after undergoing a second procedure to repair an existing Achilles injury. Dillon Gabriel started six games after Flacco was traded in October, and Sanders guided the Browns to a 3-4 mark to close out his rookie campaign.

Monken and offensive coordinator Travis Switzer said the Browns installed their full offense with veteran players during the second phase of the offseason program, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson.
