The Washington Commanders are signing free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs, sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Diggs will play on a one-year contract that is worth up to $12 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The arrival of the four-time Pro Bowler gives Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels another top target in addition to Terry McLaurin.
Diggs is coming off a one-year stay with the New England Patriots in which he led the team in receptions (85) and receiving yards (1,013) while also hauling in four touchdowns. He signed a three-year, $63.5-million contract with the Patriots last offseason before being released in March.
A Maryland native, Diggs expressed interest earlier this offseason in playing for Washington. The Commanders will be his third team in as many years; Diggs suited up for the Houston Texans in 2024 before joining New England.
In May, Diggs was found not guilty of assaulting his personal chef during a pay dispute. The NFL said in June that the wideout wouldn't face any discipline under the league's personal conduct policy.
The 32-year-old has registered over 1,000 yards receiving in seven of his last eight seasons. Since being taken in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Diggs has played for the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills in addition to the Texans and Patriots. His best season came in 2020, when he posted league highs of 127 catches and 1,535 receiving yards as a member of the Bills.
