Outgoing NFLPA President has harsh words for CBA critics

After not playing in the league this past season, NFLPA President Domonique Foxworth will relinquish his position on Wednesday. His replacement will be elected by the roughly 60 players gathered in Orlando, Fla. when his two-year term comes to an end.

As Foxworth said his goodbyes on Monday night, the former Bronco, Raven and Falcon used the opportunity to take a final shot at those who criticized the CBA deal he was part of orchestrating to end the lockout in 2011.

"The people who want to snipe and challenge from the outside - [expletive] them," Foxworth told USA TODAY Sports at the union's annual meetings. "That's genuinely how I feel. I'll stand and debate the merits of the deal with anybody."

Foxworth and the union were widely criticized for a CBA that many called a landslide victory for the owners. However, the union worked had to improve situations for players other than just financially. And with free agency this year booming and the salary cap at an all-time high, suddenly the job done by Foxworth and company doesn't look so bad.

"There isn't one part of the deal I'm not willing to stand beside," said Foxworth. "Obviously, there are things that I wish were better. But the financial deals are strong.

"We've changed the work conditions. There's no more two-a-days, ever. You only practice in pads 14 times a season. Your offseason is extended to give you your opportunities to improve your transition. You have more time to go to school. You have more time to do whatever the hell it is you want to do.... Every portion of a player's life we've addressed in this deal. I'm very proud of it. You got a problem with it? [Expletive] you."

The union will elect a new president, as well as at least six new members of the executive committee on Wednesday. Chances are the new president's introduction won't be quite as colorful as Foxworth's exit.
