Derek Carr: I'm the best QB in the draft

To be an NFL quarterback, one requires a tremendous amount of confidence. Former Fresno State QB Derek Carr certainly isn't lacking in that department, as he proved when he was asked if he's the best quarterback available in the draft.

"In the most humble way you can answer that questions, yes [I'm the best]," Carr told Cleveland.com. "Absolutely. There's no doubt in my mind. That's a tough one for me to answer because I don't like talking about myself in that light, but to answer it, absolutely."

Most of the quarterback talk heading into May's draft has centered around the "big three" of Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater, but Carr would like to make that a four-horse race. He believes he has what it takes to not only be named in their company, but selected before all three are off the board.

"There's no doubt in my mind that I can play with those guys, and if we're going to compete, I like my chances," Carr said. "It only takes one team to fall in love with you. That's all we want, that one team to fall in love and just take you, because if they do, that means you're their guy."

The Browns, who hold both the fourth and 26th picks in the first round, reportedly have a strong interest in Carr, and apparently, the feeling is more than mutual. If Cleveland was to selected Carr, he's ready for the challenge of competing with Brian Hoyer for the starting job.

"Cleveland is a great city. It would be amazing to come there and help them win a championship. That's all I care about," Carr said. "I think it would be a great opportunity. No matter where I go, I'll be competing for the job, and at the same time learning. Brian's a veteran and he knows what he's doing. I'll sit there and learn from his as much as I can, but at the same time, we're going to push each other, try and make each other better and the ultimate goal is to make the team better."

Carr had a personal workout with the Browns on Monday and was pleased with the way things went. There are no guarantees, but if Cleveland is enamored with the former Bulldog, he could very well be the man under center for the Browns next season.
