They may no longer be teammates, but LeSean McCoy still has Michael Vick's back. Vick signed as a free agent with the New York Jets to compete with Geno Smith for the starting quarterback job, but according to McCoy there won't be much of a competition.
"[Vick] is going to be the starting quarterback this year," McCoy told the New York Post. "He's way better than Geno Smith. Way better. That's no contest."
After five years in Philadelphia, Vick signed a one-year, $5-million contract with the Jets last month. He was looking for an opportunity to start and will at least get to compete for the chance with New York.
Vick's playing style has made staying healthy difficult (he hasn't played a full 16 games since returning to the NFL in 2009 after his incarceration for his role in a dog-fighting ring) and according to McCoy, only injuries will keep him from starting in New York.
"That's the big question, and that's the only thing," McCoy said. "The thing here was, he didn't lose his job - he just got hurt and lost his job to injury. But as far as who's the better quarterback, he's way better than Geno Smith. That's obvious."
