Report: NFL fines Broncos' Thomas for chop block that injured Cardinals' Campbell

The NFL levied the maximum fine to Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas for an illegal chop block he delivered to Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell on Sunday.
Thomas was fined $8,268 for the hit Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. If that seems weirdly specific, it's because the NFL's fine schedule is weirdly specific. The amount is the maximum fine for an illegal chop block by a first-time offender.
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians described the block, which injured Campbell's MCL, as the "dirtiest play I've ever seen."
Thomas said after the game that he didn't intend to cause injury to an opponent. Campbell is expected to be sidelined for one to three weeks.
