Ex-Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes charged after hit-and-run investigation
Former New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes has been issued a citation charging him with four motor vehicle offenses after an investigation into a possible hit-and-run case.
According to Massachusetts State Police, Spikes will be summoned to appear in court on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger, speeding, and failure to stay within marked lanes.
Spikes' 2011 Maybach was found with substantial front-end damage on I-495 early Sunday morning, and he had reported to the in-vehicle "OnStar" system that he hit a deer before leaving the crash scene.
A deer wasn't found in the area and a police investigation concluded Spikes crashed into the back of a 2009 Nissan Murano with three occupants.
The man, woman, and their 12-year-old son were treated for minor injuries in hospital.
