Report: Packers' Andrew Quarless arrested for discharging a firearm in public
Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless was arrested early Saturday morning in Miami Beach for twice firing a gun during a dispute, according Tim Elfrink of The Miami New Times.
Police say Quarless was involved in an altercation that led to him firing his gun into the ground around 5:30 a.m. After allegedly trying to flee the scene, he was apprehended and charged with discharging a firearm in public.
According to the police report, Quarless tried to hide the gun in a potted plant outside of a restaurant called the Siena Tavern. A full incident report is expected to be released later Saturday.
The Packers released a statement via Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
"We are aware of the matter involving Andrew Quarless and are in the process of gathering more information. We will withhold further comment."
As with any off-field issue, the NFL can be expected to investigate and address Quarless's situation in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old has spent his entire five-year career in Green Bay, appearing in 55 games and making 26 starts.
