The Oakland Raiders signed safety Taylor Mays, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Mays was released by the Detroit Lions on Aug. 21, after signing with the club in June. The former USC star spent the past four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, recording nine tackles in 16 games last year.
The sixth-year pro worked with Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. during his collegiate career, with the 48-year-old serving as USC's linebackers coach before being promoted to the role of defensive coordinator for the Trojans in 2009.
Mays is expected to challenge for a roster spot on the 53-man roster.
