Anderson enters his fifth season as the backup to Cam Newton after joining the Panthers as a free agent in 2011.
His veteran presence proved most valuable when forced into action for two games last season, leading the Panthers to wins over division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers in each start.
Anderson finished the 2014 campaign with completions on 65-of-97 pass attempts for 701 yards and five interceptions.
