The Houston Texans claimed cornerback Charles James off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, according to John McClain of The Houston Chronicle.
James spent training camp and the preseason with Houston, emerging as a star of HBO's "Hard Knocks" before the team released him at final roster cutdowns.
The Texans were hoping to add him to the practice squad in the days that followed, but James opted to sign with Baltimore.
Now rejoining the Texans as part of the active roster, James will provide some much-needed depth at cornerback and on special teams.
In a corresponding move, Houston is reportedly expected to place safety Lonnie Ballentine on injured reserve.
