The Atlanta Falcons have signed linebacker Philip Wheeler and released safety Charles Godfrey, the team announced Tuesday.
Wheeler spent the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, recording 45 tackles in 15 games last year. Wheeler will likely serve as Paul Worrilow's backup at inside linebacker.
Godfrey spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers, and initially joined the Falcons initially in October 2014. The veteran safety has been released and re-signed numerous times since.
