The Pittsburgh Steelers placed Le'Veon Bell on injured reserve Monday, officially bringing an end to his 2015 season after suffering a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Details on Bell's injury have not yet been confirmed by the team, but reports emerged following the game that an MRI on his knee revealed both a torn MCL and additional damage.
The season-ending injury to Bell, arguably the NFL's top overall running back, is a crushing loss for a Steelers offense that seemingly entered the 2015 campaign with limitless potential.
DeAngelo Williams will now step in as a lead back moving forward, though the Steelers added some depth to the position Monday with the signing of free agent Isaiah Pead.
Pead spent the first four years of his career with the St. Louis Rams before being released in September, appearing in 27 games and making one start over that span.
