Panthers sign J.J. Jansen to 5-year extension
The Carolina Panthers locked up a key special teams contributor Wednesday, signing long snapper J.J. Jansen to a five-year contract extension.
Jansen broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 2008. Despite going the whole season without suiting up for a game, the Panthers traded for him the following year.
Jansen has appeared in an impressive 112 consecutive games over seven years with the Panthers.
"I feel honored that coach (Ron) Rivera, Mr. (Dave) Gettleman and Mr. (Jerry) Richardson trust me in the role that I play on this team," Jansen said in the team's official release. "I want to be here. It’s a great organization. We’ve made Charlotte our home for the past seven years and going forward long after football is done, this will be home for us."
Jansen was rewarded for his consistent level of play with a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2013.
