The Philadelphia Eagles have officially locked up their leader on the offensive side of the ball.
Just minutes after Tuesday's franchise tag deadline passed without a move, the Eagles announced a two-year deal with quarterback Sam Bradford.
The contract, which keeps Bradford from hitting the free-agent market, is a two-year pact worth $36 million, with $26 million guaranteed, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Bradford's first year in Philadelphia got off to a relatively slow start, but he appeared to shake off the rust down the stretch and show flashes of the type of ability to become a highly productive signal-caller.
Doug Pederson voiced his support for the veteran shortly after stepping in as head coach, indicating that the 28-year-old would be a "perfect" fit for the offensive system he'd put in place.
Bradford's signing is the latest in a long list of moves the Eagles made this offseason in a clear effort to retain their talent. Malcolm Jenkins, Vinny Curry, Lane Johnson, Zach Ertz, and Brent Celek all received multi-year extensions in the weeks that followed the 2015 campaign.
