The New York Jets appear to have landed another pair of running backs to follow up Wednesday's blockbuster free-agent addition of Matt Forte.
First, the Jets are set to re-sign Bilal Powell, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Also joining the Jets is former Saints running back Khiry Robinson, reports Albert Breer of NFL Network.
Powell was a complementary back for most of his five seasons in New York, but some high-level passing-game production to close out the 2015 campaign appeared to give him some value heading into free agency.
Robinson, meanwhile, joins the Jets after spending three years with the New Orleans Saints. He took 56 carries for 180 yards and four touchdowns in 2015 before a broken leg ended his season early.
Forte is sure to be the featured back in Chan Gailey's system, but Powell and Robinson give the Jets some versatile pieces to keep the ninth-year veteran fresh as the season moves forward.
