Nearly three full weeks into the offseason, the Green Bay Packers are reportedly closing in on a rare free-agent addition as a means of bolstering their roster.

Veteran tight end Jared Cook is set to sign with the Packers on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The contract is a one-year deal worth $3.6 million, a source told Rapoport.

Cook, a former third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans, hit the open market in February after his three-year stint with the now-former St. Louis Rams ended with a release.

Though his production hasn't been spectacular through seven NFL seasons, he could be poised for a strong year in one of the league's top offenses.

Green Bay will hope that working with Aaron Rodgers brings out the best in Cook, potentially giving the team a dynamic pass-catching tight end to pair with Richard Rodgers.

Cook started in 12 of his 16 appearances for the Rams last season, hauling in 39 receptions for 481 yards as part of an incredibly underwhelming passing attack.

He was most productive during his first two seasons in St. Louis, racking up an impressive 103 catches, 1,305 yards, and eight touchdowns over 32 games.
