The Detroit Lions have selected center Graham Glasgow out of Michigan in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, 95th overall.
Glasgow adds some intriguing talent to an area of the roster that's been a concern for several seasons running.
He'll likely challenge Travis Swanson for the starting center job as a rookie, with the one of the two potentially kicking out to guard.
Graham Glasgow Bio
Position: C
School: Michigan
College Experience: Senior
Height: 6-6
Weight: 307 lbs.
Strengths
- Durability. Three-year starter for the Wolverines at all three interior offensive-line positions.
- Anchor. Strong lower body allows him to handle strong pass-rushers and generate penetration into the defense in the power-run game.
- Michigan coach and former NFL coach Jim Harbaugh praised Glasgow for leadership and consistency. Two-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten.
Weaknesses
- Lack of athleticism. Slow to slide in pass protection and in getting to the next level in the run game.
- Struggles with lateral movement. More of a straight-line run-blocker than a slider.
- Was arrested for driving under the influence in March 2014 and had his probation extended for violation of alcohol during the probation period. Scouts are concerned with his off-the-field discipline when more free time is available.
