Oliver Ekman-Larsson was named captain of the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, the team announced.
The Swede is the fourth captain in team history, following in the footsteps of Keith Tkachuk (1996-2001), Teppo Numminen (2001-03), and Shane Doan (2003-17).
Ekman-Larsson signed an eight-year extension reportedly worth $8.25 million annually on July 1. The 27-year-old blue-liner tallied 14 goals and 42 points in 82 games last season.
