The Vancouver Canucks shipped defenseman Erik Gudbranson to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Tanner Pearson on Monday, the team announced.
Gudbranson, 27, was originally chosen third overall in 2010 by the Florida Panthers. In 57 games this year, he's tallied eight points. The Canucks controlled 43.5 percent of the shot attempts and 38.6 percent of the scoring chances while Gudbranson was on the ice at five-on-five this year.
This marks the second time Pearson has been traded this season, as he was sent from the Los Angeles Kings to Pittsburgh earlier in the campaign. In total, he's scored nine goals and added six assists in 61 games.
