Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak will face a hearing after elbowing Buffalo Sabres phenom Rasmus Dahlin on Monday, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced.
Dahlin was forced to leave the contest after taking the hit, and head coach Ralph Krueger said postgame that the blue-liner suffered a concussion on the play, according to The Athletic's Joe Yerdon.
Cernak, who has never been suspended in his two-year career, was not penalized for the elbow.
Dahlin was the first overall pick of the 2018 NHL Draft and a Calder Trophy finalist in his rookie season. The 19-year-old defenseman entered Monday's action with 16 points in 23 games in his sophomore campaign.
